Diagnostic areas of special interest: neuropathology and surgical pathology. Research lines: cancer (brain tumors) and neurodegeneration (synucleinopathies). President of the National Commission for Anatomic Pathology and member of the Permanent Commission of the General Council of Medical Specialties, Spanish Ministry of Health. Member of the council of the European Society of Pathology and editor of its Newsletter. Representative of Spain in the anatomic pathology board of the Union of European Medical Specialties (UEMS). Former president of the Spanish Society of Pathology (SEAP). Professional Excellence Award of the Barcelona Official College of Physicians. Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia, the Medical Sciences Academy of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the European Confederation of Neuropathological Societies, and the International Society of Neuropathology.
