Laia Gifre Sala

Medical specialist in the Rheumatology Service at the Germans Trias Hospital.

Degree in Medicine from the University of Barcelona in 2005. Specialist in Rheumatology at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona in 2010. Master's Degree in Research in Medical Sciences from the University of Barcelona in 2010. PhD in Medicine from the University of Barcelona in November 2015 with the thesis “Physiopathology of bone mass loss in patients with medular injury. The role of the antagonists of the Wnt pathway (sclerostin and Dkk-1) and risk factors related to the development of osteoporosis and fractures in these patients” with an excellent Cum Laude rating. She has been a specialist doctor in the Ossi Metabolism Unit of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and since 2016 she has been an adjunct in Rheumatology at the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital.

He has several publications in indexed journals and communications at national and international conferences. He has also received scholarships and research awards from different scientific societies. She is currently part of working groups on bone metabolism and is a member of several medical societies related to the specialty.

His main areas of interest are bone metabolic pathology, both osteoporosis, especially for secondary causes, such as Paget's bone disease, osteomalace, hypophosphatase, fibrous dysplasia or imperfect osteogenesis. He also has experience in the diagnosis and control of inflammatory joint diseases, and in the treatment with biological drugs.
