Recerca:

The Immunology Service is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to biomedical research including doctors, pre-doctoral researchers and technicians who develop research projects financed by the most prestigious Catalan, Spanish and international agencies.  In 2009, the lab was recognized as a consolidated research group by the university and research grant management agency, the Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca-AGAUR).

The lab has three main research lines:

•    Experimental and clinical immune tolerance

•    Diagnostic immunology innovation

•    Clinical epidemiology

In the last few years, it has launched new research lines in immunotherapy for the purpose of restoring lost immunotolerance in autoimmune diseases, which are those in which the immune system becomes the aggressor and attacks parts of the body, against its natural function, which is to protect it.  In this context, the lab coordinates the European Action to focus and accelerate cell-tolerogenic therapies, whose purpose is to speed up development of cell-tolerogenic therapies for auto immunity and transplantation, in the framework or the European Cooperation in Science and Technology project.
