Recerca:

The Immunology Service has a multidisciplinary team dedicated to biomedical research that develops financial research projects by agencies of the highest prestige in the Catalan, national and international sphere.

Since 2009, the laboratory has been recognized as a Consolidated Research Group by the University and Research Management Agency (AGAUR).

The laboratory has three lines of research:

1) Experimental and clinical immunotolerance

2) Innovation in diagnostic immunology

3) Clinical-epidemiological.

In the last years, there have been new research lines in Immunotherapy with the aim of restoring the immune tolerance lost in autoimmune diseases.

In this context, the laboratory is the coordinator of the European COST Action (BM1305: “Action to focus and accelerate cell-tolerogenic therapies (A FACTT), which aims to accelerate the development of tolerogenic cell therapies for the autoimmunity and transplantation (www.cost.eu) (www.afactt.eu).

Presentation:

In the Immunology Service, our male and female doctors offer immunological diagnosis and advice, within the clinical context of the patient. We are Catalan Institute of Health reference laboratory for complex immunology tests.

We also develop new tests and clinical protocols to improve patient diagnosis. We are a team committed to providing quality patient-oriented service in terms of healthcare, teaching and research.

Our clinical areas of expertiseinclude: autoimmune diseases, immunodeficiencies, cellular immunology, allergies, immunochemistry, immunotherapy and immunomonitoring, and histocompatibility and immunogenetics.

We actively participate in working groups and committees of the Spanish Society of Immunology : Autoimmunity Group (GEAI), Immunochemistry, Immunodeficiencies and Immunotherapy Group (GEIT); as well as of the Catalan Society of Immunology : Scientific Committee, Care Committee, Immunodeficiency Committee.

We are also involved in the hospital's multidisciplinary committees that help to define strategies to follow when diagnosing immunomediated pathologies: multiple myeloma, primary immunodeficiencies, autoimmune diseases (diabetes, coeliac disease, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, etc.) and immunotherapy infections.

The Immunology Service at Hospital Germans Trias is recognised as a Barcelona-UAB-Focio centre of excellence, by the Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies (Focio) .

We also collaborate closely with these centres, among others:
